Removing a Print : ZPrinter 450

1)      Details the proper steps to remove a print for the ZPrinter 450. The ZPrinter Controller Interface utilizes a Digital Readout and a Scroll Knob that acts as a Scroll Wheel and Selection Button. Scroll to your selections with the wheel, and depress the wheel to select an option. The Printer has two primary areas, the ‘PRINT AREA’ on the left of the Equipment, and the ‘DUST AREA’ on the right.

i)        Vacuum Build Chamber

(1)    Begin by ensuring the Part has had somewhere around 45 minutes to 1 hour of dry time within the Equipment. If the User whom submitted the print requests an earlier removal time, inform him/her of the risks involved. (Parts that have not dried completely, have a higher risk of breaking)

(2)    Next, scroll-to and select the ‘VACUUM’ option within the ZPrinter Interface.

(3)    Begin Vacuuming the Build Chamber and Platform. Vacuum Attachments and Tools are located in the Dust Area Glove box.

(4)    Pay attention to the 3D Printing Computer, and where the parts are oriented in the Build Chamber. Vacuum empty areas first, then lightly vacuum over the top of printed parts. The Vacuum can suck-up printed parts or pieces. This is not a danger to the machine, but this can cause frustration with the Customer’s feeling toward the final product.

ii)      Remove Print

(1)    Transfer the part to the Dust Chamber. The Printed part DOES NOT need to be entirely vacuumed before transferring it to the Dust Area.

(2)    Close the Equipment Door. Place your right hand through the arm opening on the right side of the dust chamber. Find and grasp the black de-powdering pen, located on the far right, internal side of the Dust Chamber. Make sure it is pointing downward into the machine.

(3)    Scroll-to and Select, with your left-hand, the ‘DEPOWDERING’ option within the ZPrinter Interface. The Dust Area light will turn on, the De-powdering Pen will begin streaming compressed air, and the table in the Dust Area will turn into a down-draft table. (Vacuum Table)

iii)    Dust Print

(1)    Carefully move and rotate the print while spraying with compressed air. If needed, and if possible, you may use any brush tool located in the Dust Area Glove box to clean the print further.

(2)    Once finished, scroll-to and select the ‘DEPOWDERING’ option on the ZPrinter Interface to shut down the Dust Area. Let the loose powder settle before opening the door.

iv)    Seal Print

(1)    In most cases, the Customer would like their print sealed, to further strengthen their model. See Print Finalization : ZPrinter 450 for the Procedural Information.
