This Tutorial does not reference any specific .3dm File.
Before preparing your File in RhinoCAM, you should begin by adjusting and preparing your: Post-Processor Settings, Stock Setup, and your Tool Library. This tutorial discusses how to load the correct Post Processor.
dFAB’s CNC Router has 3-Axis & 4-Axis Milling capabilities, as well as Knife Cutting capabilities. When preparing a file in RhinoCAM, you create toolpaths and operations that are visually represented through a Computer Aided Machining Interface (CAM). This visual representation must be translated into a language the CNC Router can understand. This universal language is called ‘G-Code’. Because all CNC machines are unique, the G-Code is edited into a unique form, tailored specifically for the Equipment’s capabilities. This translation between Equipment Processes and CAM Interfacing, is coordinated by a ‘Post Processor’. Your file must be prepared and posted with the correct Post Processor, for the CNC Equipment to understand what process you are trying to achieve. Using/Loading the incorrect Post Processor could cause damage, or injury to the Operator, Equipment, or Tools.
Once you’ve found the correct folder, Press OK. This will return you back to the ‘Set Post-Processor Options’ Window (Fig. 1.2). A Drop-Down Field exists near the top of the window titled, ‘Current Post Processor’. When the Drop-Down arrow of this field is selected, you will find multiple Post Processors to select from. Each Post Processor is labeled with its Processor capability; therefore, if you are using the CNC Router for 3-Axis Milling Operations, choose the Post Processor with the Label ‘3AXIS’. Alternately, you could be using the ‘4AXIS’ Processor for 4-Axis Operations; or the ‘KNIFE’ Processor for Knife Cutting Operations. Once the correct Post Processor is selected, Press the OK Button to return back to the Machining Operations Browser.
The correct Post Processor should be visible in your Machining Operations Browser. Look for the Post Icon, with the text label ‘Post – ‘; and you will find the Post Processor Title. |
