Project 3 – Texture Tiles

OBJECTIVE:

Project 3 requires all students to 3d model 3-4 Tiles, measuring no more than 10.5″ x 10.5″ x 1.5″ each. Prepare 3-Axis Toolpaths within the RhinoCAM Plugin interface, utilizing Horizontal Roughing, Parallel Finishing, Radial Machining, Spiral Machining, and Between 2 Curves to process your Material on the CNC Router. ANY LUMBER Material selection is acceptable, however, MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is recommended.

CRITERIA:

Each Tile must be unique in design.

Each Tile must measure 10.5″ x 10.5″ x 1.5″. No more, no less.

Each Tile must utilize the Horizontal Roughing Operation.

Each Tile must utilize a different Finishing Operation: Parallel Finishing, Radial Machining, Spiral Machining, and Between 2 Curves

Use larger StepOver Values to ensure Finishing Operation Selection is evident on the Final Part.

You may pair into groups for this Project.

Project must be properly documented and submitted in Course Folder.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Gluing (2) 24″ x 24″ x 3/4″ pieces of MDF together, allows for (4) Tiles at 10.5″ x 10.5″ x 1.5″.

This Project must be complete, before completing Project 4.

3 Axis Tutorials are available here.

CNC Router Policy and Procedure is available here.
