Print Finalization & Soluble Support Bath : Dimension 768-SST

1)      Details the Proper Procedures to remove and finalize an ABS Print Job.

i)        Remove the Tray

(1)    Unlock and Remove the Tray with the Print attached from the Equipment.

ii)      When to remove the Print from the Tray

(1)    If the Print has minimal surface area making contact with the Support Material Base, you may remove the ABS Print from the Support Material and Tray.

(2)    If there is a large amount of ABS Material making contact with support material and the tray, do not attempt to remove the print from the tray.

(3)    If both options are questionable, leave the print on the tray.

iii)    Start the Bath

(1)    NOTE* Water in the bath contains Sodium Hydroxide. Minimize Spilling, spraying, splashing and contact on skin, clothing, eyes, hands, and equipment. Rubber Gloves are provided, Protective Eyewear resides in the Dimension Toolkit.

(2)    Turn the Bath ‘ON’

(a)    There is a control box on the top of the bath. The front has 2 digital readouts, 5 push-buttons, and a rocker-switch (black). The back has a power plug running to an outlet. On the FRONT of the controller box, flip the rocker switch to the ‘ON’ Position. You will know it is on when the Digital Readouts appear. Lastly, push the ‘JET’ button. It is the only square button on the Controller Box that has an Arrow pointing towards the ceiling. If you hear the machine beeping, ‘ADD WATER’. (Next Step)

(3)    Add Water

(a)    If the machine is beeping persistently, then you need to add water. Use the sink and the Black Garden Hose located nearby. (In the Toolbox, in the sink, already attached) Fill the water level until it is about 1” from the top of the bath enclosure. DO YOUR BEST TO MINIMIZE SPLASHING AND SPILLS. The beeping noise will stop once the water level reaches a safe point. You should finalize power-up operation by pressing the ‘JET’ button. It is the only square button on the Controller Box that has an Arrow pointing towards the ceiling. If you add water, you should probably add Soluble Support Concentrate. (Next Step)

(4)    Add Soluble Support Concentrate

(a)    IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU UTILIZE HAND AND EYE PROTECTION WHEN COMPLETING THIS PROCEDURE!

(b)   In the 3D Printing Area, there are bottles of Soluble Support Concentrate. They are clear, with white, salt-like material on the inside. You must open this carefully, and puncture the seal on the top of the bottle. When pouring/mixing the concentrate, make sure the jets are turned on, and spread the Concentrate EVENLY so it dissolves correctly. This will take 5-10 minutes to complete in a SAFE MANNER. MINIMIZE SPLASHING AND ANY DIRECT CONTACT.

(i)      Mixing Ratio:

  1. Full Bath Change
    1. If you’ve replaced ALL of the water in the bath, you must add one full bottle of Concentrate.
  2. Half Bath Change
    1. If you’ve replaced half of the water in the bath, it requires a ½ bottle of Concentrate.
    2. If you’ve added water due to the water level being low, you should add a ½ bottle of Concentrate.
  3. No Bath Change
    1. If you want to speed things up, you may add a ¼ bottle of concentrate to the bath. Use Sparingly.

iv)    Remove from Bath

(1)    When removing a part from the bath, use the Heat Resistant Rubber Gloves. MINIMIZE SPLASHING, SPILLS, AND SKIN CONTACT! CAREFULLY REMOVE THE PART AND IMMEDIATELY PLACE IT IN THE SINK. While in the sink, turn on the water and rinse the Print and/or trays removed from the Bath. LEAVE THE PRINT IN THE SINK –OR- THE DESIGNATED PRINT DRYING AREA. DO NOT MOVE THE PRINT anywhere, on to ANY SURFACE, until it is completely dry.
